Poverty Relief and Student Aid

Venerable Guan Cheng, abbot of the International Buddhist Temple, assembled a Guangzhou Friendship and Culture Poverty Alleviation Task Force in the Guangdong province of China in early 2000. Its purpose is to contribute to the living expenses of the disabled, poor, sick, orphans and elderly, help pay tuitions for poor students, and provide subsidies for acquisition of textbooks and school furniture. So far almost a thousand people have benefited from this program.

In 2012, Venerable Guan Cheng set up the Huaxing Chinese Primary School in a northern mountainous region of Thailand.  It gives poor Chinese or Thai students alike in local villages a chance to learn Chinese language and culture.

At the beginning of 2017, Venerable Guan Cheng established a Kindness, Grace and Karma program, and extended his charity campaign to poor and remote regions of other provinces in China, with an emphasis on aiding schooling of children whose parents live and work far away from home, and families in extreme poverty and in urgent need of help. This program has already launched projects with volunteers to assist the poor and needy in the provinces of Guangxi, Guizhou and Yunnan.

The International Buddhist Temple is now hoping to expand the above-mentioned programs and projects so as to help more people in need. We sincerely request for your generous contribution in supporting this worthy cause. As donations for these programs and projects have been diminishing, your contribution will help us to continue to provide relief to the impoverished in China and Thailand. Donations of any amount are welcome.
